Ang Babae Nga Naman

This morning, my mom found this poem in her drawer. It was entitled “I Just Can’t Understand You Woman.” It was written by an anonymous writer and it seemed that it was written ages ago. The paper looked like it would turn to dust at any minute and it was written with a typewriter. The paper had torn edges and all of the sides had, at least, one part torn in half. There were also holes in it that seemed to look like the beginning of its turning to dust.

This poem was actually very intriguing. My mom told me to read the damn thing and make a song out of it, but instead, I’ll write it down here first so that some people can bear with me… :D

So, this is how it goes:

I Just Can’t Understand You Woman

If you’re well dressed, she thinks you’re a playboy
If you’re not, she thinks you’re rugged
If you kiss her, you’re not a gentleman
If you don’t, you’re not a man
If you praise her, she thinks you’re lying

If your don’t, you’re good for nothing
If you agree with all her likes, she abuses
If you don’t, she doubts your love
If you make romance, you are an experienced man
If you visit her often, she claims it’s boring

If you don’t, she accuses you of double-crossing
If you visit another, she accuses you of being a traitor
If she is visited by another, Ah, it’s but natural for a girl
If you’re a minute late, she complains it’s hard to wait
If you’re on time, for hours she’ll make you wait

If you propose love within a brief acquaintanship, you’re a fresh guy
If you postpone it to later, she wonders why?
If you fail to assist her in crossing the street, you lack ethics
If you do, she thinks it’s just one of mans tactics
If you kiss her once in a while, she says you’re abusing

If you kiss her always, she says you don’t respect her
If you don’t kiss her at all, she says you’re dry
If you contradict her, she does not like it
If you don’t, she thinks you’re easily deceived
Oh! Woman – thou art so simple yet so complex to understand

So, how was it? Whaddaya think huh? Hehehhe…. And tell me, how on earth am I going to make a song out of that??
